Christmas 2006
|
The 2006 festive season saw a repeat of the now well-established formula of three days of Santa Trains over the weekends leading up to Christmas followed by Mince Pie Trains on Boxing Day. The second weekend of Santa Trains fell unusually close to the big day itself with services on both the 23rd and 24th of December. Once again all services were well patronised with significant passsengers being carried once again. Both Sea Lion and Annie were rostered to handle the Christmas services in the usual top-and-tail format. On Saturday 23rd battery electric locomotive Polar Bear replaced Annie at the rear of the service train, this being the first time the electric loco has seen passenger service at Christmas, and the first time it has worked top-and-tail with Sea Lion. When the problem, the lack of a damper, was sorted, Annie returned to duty. The railway counts largely on the support of the Manx public and it is pleasing to see familiar faces returning year after year. Thank you for supporting the railway and a very big thank you to all the extra volunteers who helped create special memories for the young children. |
