| Annie was built and is owned by Groudle volunteer Richard Booth. Annie is a full size, accurate working replica of an 0-4-2T Bagnall locomotive supplied in 1911 to the Gentle Annie Tramway, Gisbourne, New Zealand. The project started in a garage in Laxey and when it got too big for there, space was kidly offered in the IOM Railway Workshops in Douglas. Most of the heavy machining, cylinders etc. was contracted to the Fort Street workshops of the IOM Steam Packet Company whose fabrication work, advice and assistance was invaluable. The additional advice and help from the Steam Railway workshops also greatly assisted the project. Annie has proved to be an ideal locomotive for the Groudle Glen Railway since entering service in July 1998. |
