Christmas time is a magical and wonderful time at the Groudle Glen Railways. In the lead up to Christmas the railway provides the 'Santa Express' service where children, and adults too, can take a special trip from Lime Kiln Halt to Santa's special Grotto at Lhen Coan Station. Here Santa and his elves can be found waiting with a big warm smile for everyone. Everyone joins in the spirit of the event. Even Dolphin tries to join in the fun and does a wonderful impression of 'Blitzen'.

On Boxing Day, when everyone else is resting up, the volunteers are busy organising the mince pie trains.
